GP Surgeon / Endoscopist
Jal has over 25 years of endoscopic experience. He graduated from the University of Rhodesia (1980) Godfrey Huggins School of Medicine. Jal completed surgical training at Bromsgrove & Redditch District Hospital and the Isle Of Wight (UK). He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1986.
Jal was involved with setting up, implementation and running of surgical audit on the Isle of Wight. He was recognised in endoscopy and colonoscopy training by the Conjoint Committee of GESA. He worked as a Staff Specialist in General Surgery in the UK. Jal had also worked as a General Surgeon in country NSW for over 10 years servicing rural and remote communities in all aspects of surgery including trauma, orthopaedics, urology, simple surgical gynaecology including laparoscopy and surgical obstetrics. English is his first language.

- Endoscopy – Gastroscopies, Colonoscopies in routine and emergency setting. These include PEG insertions, oesophageal stenting, dilatations, complex polypectomies, OTSC and variceal banding.
- Management of all acute gastroenterological emergencies through ED and ward referrals
- Weekly Liver, IBD and General Gastroenterology clinics.
- Part of H& M team in St Vincent’s Hospital for management of acute bleeders
- ERCP,EUS and oesophageal manometry under supervision
Training
Dr Puneet Mahindra did his initial training at University Hospital Aintree (Liverpool, UK) and University Hospital Coventry (UK). He then finished his fellowship in Gastroenterology at BoxHill Hospital and the Royal Melbourne Hospital (FRACP).
He continues his medical research on oesophageal disorders (Barretts, Reflux) and interventional endoscopy at St Vincent’s Hospital and University of Melbourne.

Dr Edward Tsoi MBBS, MPH, FRACP
Gastroenterologist/Endoscopist
Having completed his medical degree from Monash University in 2006, Dr Edward Tsoi undertook his postgraduate specialty training in Gastroenterology and General Medicine at Monash Health, Austin Health and Northern Health in Victoria. He then completed his Master of Public Health from University of Newcastle in 2015 and was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians later that year.
Dr Tsoi is now working at Northern Health while continuing his research though his Doctor of Medical Science and subspecialty training in advanced endoscopy at the University of Melbourne and St Vincent’s Hospital. He has a special interest in Barrett’s oesophagus, endoscopic ultrasound, endoscopic mucosal resections, evaluation of small bowel luminal disease through double balloon enteroscopy and capsule endoscopy.
Dr Tsoi manages problems in all areas of gastroenterology including liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and bowel cancer screening. He is involved in ongoing teaching of medical students and has published widely in international journals and presented at numerous national and international meetings. Dr Tsoi also speaks fluent Mandarin and Cantonese and is available for consultations and endoscopies at Goonawarra Day Hospital.

Dr Manjeet Sandhu MBBS, FRACP

Dr Manjeet Sandhu graduated from Melbourne University with honours in 2009 . She did her specialist training at St Vincent's Hospital and Monash Health.
Manjeet obtained her FRACP in 2016. She then undertook a PhD in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, evaluating new therapeutic targets.
Manjeet is patient focussed and committed to delivering high quality care. She currently has a public appointment at Monash Medical Centre and Casey Hospital.
Her interest includes inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer screening and prevention, irritable bowel syndrome, coeliac disease and liver diseases.

DR ANDREW TSOI
Dr Andrew Tsoi MD MMed(IntMed) MPH BBiomedSci LLB(Hons) GDLP FRACP FACLM
Gastroenterologist/ Hepatologist/ Endoscopist
Dr Andrew Tsoi’s extensive academic background underpins his comprehensive approach to medicine. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Griffith University in 2016, followed by a Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) and a Master of Public Health from the University of Sydney. In 2024, he was awarded Fellowships from both the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Australasian College of Legal Medicine. His training includes positions at St Vincent’s Hospital and Northern Health, as well as a Liver Research Fellowship at Eastern Health, where he developed a research focus on fatty liver disease and biomarkers for hepatocellular carcinoma.
Outside of clinical work, Dr Tsoi is actively involved in medical education and research, with numerous publications in peer-reviewed gastroenterology journals. He currently works at Eastern Health. In addition to his medical qualifications, Dr A Tsoi holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours), a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice and has been admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria. His dual qualifications in medicine and law provide a unique perspective on complex medico-legal issues and underpin his active involvement in the medicolegal field. He has a particular interest in patient capacity and consent and has authored an Honours thesis examining the rights of competent minors with gender identity dysphoria to consent to reversible sex affirmation treatment.
