Endoscopy
We provide diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures to help identify and manage digestive system conditions.
- Gastroscopy – Examines the oesophagus, stomach, and upper small intestine to detect conditions such as ulcers, inflammation, or reflux.
- Colonoscopy – Examines the colon to identify polyps, inflammation, or other digestive conditions.
Gastro-intestinal endoscopy is generally regarded as more accurate than x-rays in the diagnosis of problems in the gullet, stomach, duodenum or large bowel. This is because it relies on direct vision of the gastro-intestinal tract, and the procedure may be recorded on disc or still picture. Gastro-intestinal endoscopy has also the added advantage that small samples of tissues (biopsies), or polyps can be removed for pathological examination at the same time.
Modern endoscopes are slim, flexible, and the procedure is generally without any discomfort. An intravenous sedation is given by the anaesthetist to make you relaxed and sleepy. You may remember little or nothing of the procedure afterwards. For gastroscopy, a local anaesthetic spray may be applied to the throat to prevent gagging, and you breathe normally.
Side effects are uncommon. Rarely, complications from the procedure or anaesthetic can occur. If you experience any discomfort after the procedure, please contact this clinic or your doctor without delay.
Our specialists perform these procedures with care and precision, ensuring patient comfort and safety at all times.
Eye Surgery
Our ophthalmology team offers cataract surgery and oculoplastic procedures for both functional and cosmetic needs:
- Cataract Surgery – Restores vision by removing the cloudy lens and replacing it with a clear artificial lens.
- Oculoplastic Surgery – Includes procedures to correct droopy eyelids (ptosis), under-eye bags, and other eyelid or periocular concerns.
In cataract surgery, the lens inside your eye that has become cloudy is removed and replaced with an artificial lens (called an intraocular lens, or IOL) to restore clear vision. The procedure typically is performed at the day hospital and does not require an overnight stay in a hospital or other care facility.
Droopy eyelids (Ptosis / Dermatochalasis) happen when the upper eyelid hangs lower than normal. This can make a person look tired and sometimes it can partly block their vision. Ptosis usually occurs when the muscle that lifts the eyelid becomes weak, while dermatochalasis happens when there is extra loose skin on the eyelid, often due to aging.
Under-eye bags or cosmetic concerns refer to swelling or puffiness under the eyes. This usually happens because of aging, fluid buildup, lack of sleep, or weakening of the tissues around the eyes. The area under the eyes may look swollen or dark, which can make a person appear tired or older.
Blocked tear ducts occur when the small channel that drains tears from the eyes into the nose becomes blocked. When this happens, tears cannot drain properly and the eye may become watery, sticky, or irritated. In some cases, it can also lead to infections around the tear duct.
Ectropion is a condition in which the eyelid turns outward, usually affecting the lower eyelid. When this happens, the inner surface of the eyelid becomes exposed and the eyelid cannot protect the eye properly. This can cause excessive tearing, dryness, redness, and irritation because the eye is not kept moist and clean as it should be.
Entropion is a condition in which the eyelid turns inward toward the eye. When the eyelid rolls inward, the eyelashes rub against the surface of the eye. This can cause discomfort, redness, tearing, and irritation, and if it is not treated, it may damage the cornea (the clear front part of the eye). 👁️
Both ectropion and entropion usually occur in older adults due to weakening of the eyelid muscles, but they can also be caused by injury, scarring, or infection.
These procedures are performed in a day surgery setting, with careful monitoring for optimal outcomes.
Minor General Surgery
Our surgeons perform minor procedures safely in a day surgery environment, including:
- Skin cancer procedures – Safe removal of skin lesions with minimal downtime
- Removal of lumps and bumps – Surgical excision of benign lumps for comfort or cosmetic reasons
- Haemorrhoid banding – Non-invasive procedure for haemorrhoid treatment
- Other minor surgical procedures performed by experienced specialists
Skin cancer procedures involve the safe removal of abnormal or cancerous skin lesions to prevent the spread of cancer. These procedures are usually performed as minor surgeries, allowing patients to return home the same day with minimal recovery time.
Removal of lumps and bumps is a minor surgical procedure in which benign growths such as cysts or lipomas are surgically excised for comfort, medical reasons, or cosmetic improvement.
Haemorrhoid banding is a simple and minimally invasive procedure used to treat haemorrhoids, where a small rubber band is placed around the haemorrhoid to cut off its blood supply, causing it to shrink and fall off naturally.
In addition, experienced specialists may perform other minor surgical procedures that require only local an Aesthesia and do not require a long hospital stay, allowing patients to recover quickly
All procedures are conducted using modern surgical techniques with a focus on rapid recovery and patient comfort.
